The Regional Transportation Authority Citizens’ Advisory Committee (CAC) was established to provide initial public input on developing a draft regional transportation plan for the greater Tucson region.

The CAC met over several years and provided transportation improvement options to the RTA Board in 2024 for further consideration. The RTA Technical Management Committee (TMC) provided the initial project list and provided the CAC with input on technical matters.

On Sept. 26, 2024, the RTA Board approved a draft plan for public input. More than 2,200 people provided feedback on the draft plan via a survey conducted November 2024 through January 2025.

The proposed RTA Next plan covers a 20-year period and would be funded by a new half-cent RTA sales tax. Both the final plan and tax initiatives would require voter approval at a future election in order to go into effect.

The current 20-year RTA plan and half-cent sales tax, approved in May 2006 by Pima County voters, are effective through June 2026.

Once the board adopts a final draft, it will determine an election date.

The CAC’s work toward plan development has been completed. No future CAC meetings are scheduled.

All RTA meetings are open to the public to follow final plan development.
